The Fundraising Volunteer role works in partnership with the Community Fundraiser and local supporters to help increase fundraising income across the region. Volunteers support this work by attending local events, promoting fundraising activities, and acting as an ambassador for Diabetes UK within the local community.

The Community Fundraiser is responsible for developing income across their geographical area, with a strong focus on supporting volunteer fundraisers, regional corporate partners, and local fundraising groups. Fundraising Volunteers play an important role in extending this support and strengthening community engagement.

Fundraising Volunteers will be asked to provide practical support across a range of community‑based and supporter engagement activities. These may include some of the activities below:

  • Representing Diabetes Scotland at third‑party fundraising events, such as the Kiltwalk and Edinburgh Marathon
  • Attending cheque presentation events to acknowledge and thank supporters
  • Supporting speaker or presentation events where a donation is being made
  • Assisting at school‑based fundraising events
  • Supporting Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) events and other events similar to this. (Appropriate briefing and support would be provided)
  • Attending community activities or events where staff are unable to be present
  • Acting as a point of contact for your community
  • Supporting or assisting with bucket collections, where appropriate, as an additional fundraising opportunity
