About Diabetes UK
As the UK’s leading diabetes charity, we support people living with diabetes, work to prevent type 2 diabetes, make research discoveries, and find a cure.
About our Chippenham Group:
Our groups are run by a committee, with a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary who lead activities and share tasks. Our Chippenham Committee host public information meetings held both online and face-to-face, giving people with diabetes the chance to learn more about their condition, meet others and ask questions They also support local awareness events and social activities.
They are looking for a new Treasurer who can manage their group account and support them so their activities can continue.
What our group does:
Host public information meetings, often attended by a guest speaker • Awareness events • The group has a website Diabetes UK - Local Groups - Chippenham District (diabetesukgroup.org) and Facebook page Diabetes UK Chippenham & District | Facebook kept up to date by volunteers
Main tasks and activities:
Handle payments in and out of the account, such as venue hire, donations, and volunteer expenses • Keep up-to-date records of financial transactions including receipts and payments • Submit account to Diabetes UK Groups Accountant and auditors on request, including the Annual Return in January • Oversee spending in line with Diabetes UK’s policies • Complete a VAT exemption form when purchasing equipment for the group, (if needed) • Be a cheque signatory for the group
About you: We are looking for people who have:
Confident handling money and making payments
• Ability to set up and maintain accurate banking records
• Likes being part of a team
• Happy to present and explain information
• Happy to work within Diabetes UK guidelines

Safer Recruitment
Our volunteer recruitment and selection is fair, safe and consistent. For this role you’ll need to fill out our online Application Form, give 2 references and complete a Basic Criminal Record check. This is paid for by Diabetes UK.
